開明小學的前身為「西貢廣肇學校」，成立於民國十七年十一月(1928年11月)，設有初中小學，校址為:夏務練街44號(今日為傅德政44號)。

The first name of Khai Minh Primary School was「西貢廣肇學校」, built in November, 1928. The school had both primary school and joiner high school. Address: 44, rue Alsace-Lorraine(now is 44 Phó Đức Chính)

        根據民國四十七年度（1958年）出版的《廣肇學校校刊》，內容包括：校史、學校董事會、夜校及補習班、圖書館、經費、雜記以及創建西貢廣肇學校題名記等。同時亦列出歷屆的畢業生名單：初中第1至16屆（民國31至48年）；高小第1至30屆（民國19至48年）；夜學部高小第1至4屆（民國38至48年）；及廣肇學校的董事，教職員名單和照片、學校正面圖，校歌和球賽照片等（共33頁）。

校史

        民國十六年秋（1927年），西貢廣肇幫幫長黃月亭君，暨葉伯行，李仲卓，徐翯儕君等，召開幫大會議，籌辦本校，由廣肇公所撥送地基一區，坐落在西貢晏薩士羅蘭街四十四號(44, rue Alsace-Lorraine,亦譯為夏務練街)，面積一千一百七十萬公尺，集資建築鋼筋三合土西式洋樓三層。前進上兩層為講堂，共十間，下層為校長室及會客室，中為禮堂；後進上層為教員室，中層為講堂及教員室，下層為雜役室及廚房，浴室、廁所等，前面空地為操場，其旁為門役室。教員宿舍及寄宿生宿舍則假座廣肇公所樓上。

        建校捐款最多者為葉伯行君及李仲卓二位，葉伯行君籌畫規模，督理建設，徐翯儕君指揮一切，籌辦處主席兼充本校第一任校長。其他群策群力，始建設於民國十七年四月，是年十一月落成，所有費用約越幣七萬多元，皆有大家由熱心捐款。 學校董事會由西貢廣肇公所選舉校董，監督學校各項校務，兩年一任。






　　民國三十五年九月至十一月，中國國民黨駐越南西堤支部假座本校開辦平民識字班四班，每班四十人，由本校教員兼任教授，分高低兩級，全期三個月，免收學雜費。民國三十六年起由本校自辦，亦免收學費。民國三十五年起，附設法文夜間班，讓華人子弟有補習的機會。最初所有經費由公所負擔，而後受不景氣的影響，公所無力全額負擔，自民二十一年起，收若干學費，不足者由公所負擔。自民國二十一年起，男女兼收，西人及越人子女亦收。設有圖書館，藏書一萬三千餘冊。

       1955年，依南越政府法令更名為「開明小學」，1975年收歸越南政府管理。至此，西貢廣肇學校正式走入歷史。1975年之後，西貢廣肇學校的校友陸續遠走世界各國，為了找尋失聯的校友，發起了「美國越南廣肇校友會」，並在1991年在洛杉磯「越棉寮報」刊登「美國越廣肇校友會籌備啓事」，至今陸續找到失聯的校友，包括澳洲、加拿大、香港、越南、英國、法國、台灣、美國及瑞士等國的校友。

     In 1991, announce of "United States more Vietnam Guangzhou alumni associations “ in the "Vietnam Cambodia Laos newspaper" at Los Angeles.








　　　　According to the "Guangzhao school magazine" which was published in 1958, including school history, the list of school board member, evening schools and learning center, library, funding, and the record of School founded. There are also listed a list of all previous graduates from 1930 to 1959, and the lists and photographs of school directors, staffs, a front view of the school, the school song and ballgame etc. (total 33 pages).

School History

　　　In autumn (1927), the leader of Saigon Guangzhou congregation(bang) hold a congregation members meeting for established the Saigon Guangzhou School, Guagzhou congregation donated a place in the area of 44, rue Alsace-Lorraine, an area of 11.7 million meters, established three buildings of three floors in Western-style. The front building was used for classroom both in the second floor and the third floor, principal office and drawing room in the first floor. The middle of building was used for the auditorium; the last building was used for teacher office in the third floor, both classroom and teacher room in the second floor, the first floor was used for the staff office, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The front space was used for the playground; next to the door was security office. Due to space was not enough, both the teacher and student dormitory were located in the upstairs of Guagzhou congregation office.


　　　葉伯行and 李仲donated the a lot of money, and also contributed to work for established the school. The first principal was 徐翯儕. After Saigon Guangzhou congregation raised funds, the school was constructed from April 1928, and was completed in November 1928, the cost was more then 70,000VND. School Board members were elected by the Saigon GuangZhao congregation to manager school business, two years a term.

　　　Chinese Kuomintang national branch in cholon, hold the four free classes for the people to learn the word, each class has 40 peoples, teachers from the Saigon GuangZhao school, three months a term. Saigon GuangZhao school held the same free class by themselves, from 1947. By the way, the school held the French class in the night.

　　　In the beginning, all of the expenditure was paid by GuangZhao congregation, later due to economic recession, GuangZhao congregation could not have enough money to pay all of the expense, the students should pay a part of fee to school from 1932, the other fees pied by GuangZhao congregation. Since 1932, the students had boys and girls, beside Chinese students, Vietnamese and Westerner students also attended the school.The school had a library, and collected the book was more than 13,000 until 1958.

　　　In 1955, according to the policy of South Vietnamese government, the school was renamed to the " Khai Minh Primary School ". In 1975, Vietnamese Government took over the school. After 1975, lots of graduates of Saigon Guangzhou School moved to the worldwide. In order to find alumnus, some alumnus launched a "United States more Vietnam Guangzhou alumni associations “in 1991 at Los Angeles.So far, the alumni associations found out a lot of alumnus to keep their friendship, including alumnus of Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Vietnam, UK, France, Taiwan, US and Switzerland ……etc.
